Reading the site

The public site is readable without an account and without giving us anything. We do not build visitor profiles and we do not sell visitor data. Pages may carry advertising served by Google, described under Advertising below. Like most public websites, our delivery network processes the standard request information needed to serve and protect the pages.

The watch form

If you ask to be told about new permits, we store four things: your email address, what you asked to watch (a market or a trade), the page you asked from, and whether you also want to hear when next-trade forecasts are released. The country your request came from is recorded so we can see where demand is; your IP address is not stored.

That address is used to send what you asked for and to understand which markets people care about. It is not sold, rented or shared, and it is not used to build a profile of you. Every message will carry a one-click way to stop, and you can ask us to delete your record at any time through the contact page — we will remove it without asking why.

Your account

When you sign in with Google, we receive the account identifier, verified email address, and the profile name or image that Google makes available. We store the information needed to create your account, keep you signed in, provide access to your plan, and respond to support requests.

News and offers by email

We send product news, coverage updates, and subscription discounts and promotions only if you ask for them: after you sign in we show a checkbox that is not ticked by default, and you can change your choice on your account page at any time. We send at most one such email a week, and every one has a one-click unsubscribe link. We record what you chose, when, and the wording you saw, so that we can show your consent if asked. Unsubscribing from news does not affect permit alerts you set up yourself, and choosing not to receive news does not change your access to the service.

Payment information

Payments are processed by PayPal. Projects Ahead receives subscription and payment-status identifiers needed to activate, manage, and audit your subscription. We do not receive or store your full payment-card or PayPal credential details.

Guest access and usage limits

You can open a prepared link from a company page without an account. To count those requests against a limit and to prevent automated abuse, we compute a one-way hash of your IP address and of a randomly generated identifier stored in the pa_guest cookie, using a secret key. Only those hashes and a counter are stored; the IP address itself is not stored and the hashes cannot be reversed into it.

Cookies

We set four cookies of our own. pa_session keeps you signed in. pa_guest holds the random identifier described above for one year. pa_oauth exists for ten minutes while you sign in with Google, to protect that exchange. pa_auth_event lives for two minutes after you sign in and only tells our analytics whether this was a new account or a returning one. None of our own cookies is used for advertising; the advertising cookies set by Google are described under Advertising below.

On projectsahead.com and app.projectsahead.com we also use Google Analytics, which sets its own cookies (_ga and _ga_*) to count visits, show which pages are used, and count steps such as opening the app, signing in and running a search. We do not send your email address, your name or the text of your searches to Google Analytics. We use it to measure traffic, not for advertising: advertising features and Google signals are turned off. You can opt out with Google's browser add-on.

We also use Microsoft Clarity to see how pages are used — clicks, scrolling and mouse movement — so we can fix confusing pages. Clarity sets its own cookies (_clck and _clsk) and masks what you type into forms. It is not used for advertising. Microsoft processes this data under the Microsoft Privacy Statement.

Advertising

Pages on projectsahead.com may show ads served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a visitor's prior visits to this website or to other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.

You can opt out of personalized advertising from Google in Google My Ad Center, and from other participating vendors at www.aboutads.info. How Google uses information from sites that use its services is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Where the law requires your consent before advertising cookies are set, such as for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, you are asked first, and ads shown without consent are not personalized. We do not share your account, watch-form or search information with advertisers.

How information is used

We use account, session, search, saved-search, alert, and subscription information to operate the service, prevent misuse, secure it, enforce plan limits, investigate support requests, and maintain accounting records. We do not sell personal information.

Service providers

Google provides sign-in, measures site traffic through Google Analytics and serves ads through Google AdSense, Microsoft shows how site pages are used through Clarity, PayPal provides payment processing, and Cloudflare provides hosting, security, and delivery. Those providers process information under their own terms and privacy policies in order to provide their services.

Public records

Search results and pages are derived from construction-permit records published by issuing authorities. Those authorities determine the content and availability of their own public records. Projects Ahead does not add private contact details to permit records.

Retention and requests

We retain account and subscription records for as long as needed to operate the service, handle disputes, and meet applicable recordkeeping obligations. You may request account deletion by emailing support. A watch-form record is deleted on request without question. Some transaction and security records may need to be retained where required by law or to resolve a dispute.
